Ford Keeps Microsoft and Adds Apple CarPlay

tech news

With new technology advances it took a while for apple to get in the car game. Well aside from running off of other devices. Today they announced their new car system will be available in some of the newer Ford vehicles. As you may or may not know Ford already has a deal with Microsoft, which they use Ford SYNC and MyFord Touch, which is Ford's in car solutions for the mobile OS. Even though they will be working with Apple now they will still continue to work with Microsoft, giving the Microsoft vs. Apple war into the car realm.

Ford's take on the new technology is to help improve car connectivity for the customers. “Ford is working to integrate Apple’s CarPlay in the future,” a spokesperson told TechCrunch.”We will continue to work with Apple, Microsoft and many other technology companies." This is a good acquisition for them since their branded SYNC works with Apple iOS and Android. This may lead to their own customer integration of the two technologies working together or to the one company keeping the car deal.

I truly think this acquisition was to catch them eyes of the Apple fan boys, who would purchase anything Apple branded. Since For SYNC already works across different platforms, but maybe I just do not see the bigger picture, after all they probably know what they are doing. For now Microsoft is safe with their contract, but if Ford finds a increase in customers wanting CarPlay it will most likely be out with the old technology and in with the new technology.
