Apps That Make Reading Easier And Faster

new speed reading technology

Reading the entire series of The Game of Thrones or Harry Potter may seem daunting to the average reader. But with new technology it is possible to read the entire series of either book in a weeks’ time. How could this be possible? The app call Spritz, is a new app that has released a month ago at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

The app basically took the "wheel" and reinvented it, but with reading of course. The new Samsung Galaxy S5 will have the software pre-loaded. Is this an attempt at getting people back into a reading mood? Possibly, I feel like I would take on reading more than I do right now because they advertise reading as if it is going to be a lot easier.

The new technology that Spritz's is it uses a display called a Redicle, this will keep your eye centered on the same space instead of scrolling across a page. This means that a new word will appear in place of the other word. The Spritz researchers say that the most time consuming part about reading is when we move our eyes from word to word. So aligning the word lets our brain and eyes not waste so much time processing movement, which lets the user spend more time reading.

So far the app is available in a couple languages such as English, Spanish, French, German, Russian, and Korean. Spritz hopes to get a wider release other than Samsung so that everyone can enjoy reading.

Until then there are a couple other apps out there that can help you through a book.

Velocity
Velocity is a paid app going for $3 right now and it helps you push your reading time to an abnormal speed. It is made for iOS7, and uses the one word approach like Spritz. Velocity matches up with Instapaper and Pocket so you can read articles on those services.

Speed Reading Trainer
This app promises to get us up to a 500 words per minute in 2 weeks, and is available for the android users. The app takes note of your progress as you increase in speed.

Acceleread
This one is a little different as it turns speed reading into a game. You receive gold stars and trophies when you attain your new goal, it has a built in chart that shows you your stats.

So give some of the speed reading apps a shot, maybe you will discover that you really don't mind reading that much anymore. Who knows maybe in the future we will have new technology that can download straight to your brain.
