Vending machines have been around since 1888, and found by the Thomas Adams Gum company. The simple idea of adding these virtually un-attended machines "trader" has spawned many other great inventions like slot machines and pinball. When you think of a vending machine you usually think of a snack, or beverage, and they help you subdue some of your hunger.
The oddest vending machine that I have ever laid eyes on was the Apple vending machine. The Apple vending machine sold basically all of their mobile device platforms. When I first saw it I thought to myself "Who would drop $400 to get an iPod out of a vending machine?", these things are terribly unreliable (like a Macs hard drive).
