2013 Was already a crazy year in technology advancement its self, but it is almost over and it is now time to look ahead to 2014. Technology gossip probably buzzes as much as celebrity gossip, among us techies, with new and future gadgets that are constantly advancing. When a new gadget comes out we become so immune to its "newness" and start to take it for granted, and forget we didn't have touch screen phones and smartwatches a couple years back.

That is today, but what does the future hold? What awesome gadget will we own in 2014? Will we all hop on the smartglass train? We have a couple of ideas of what gadgets will be coming, but it is only a fraction of what we will see in 2014 because gadgets are advancing so quickly. From smarter gadgets to HD screens that make you feel like you are in real life, here is our look into 2014.

The wearable technology today is already pretty hot, but mostly in the fitness arena with the likes of the FitBit, Nike, Adidas just to name a few. Then we got the fashionable smartwatches such as the Pebble, Galaxy Gear, and the Sony Smartwatch 2. This is defiantly a trend that will be carrying on in 2014 with much more evolution to what we already have. Of course we will be seeing a new release of the Galaxy gear in 2014 with added features and hopefully a better battery life, with many competitors to follow.

The workout calorie watching gadgets, may become more advance or obsolete with so many smartwatches that will feature this built into them. Smartwatches will be running android and Apple will be releasing their iWatch, and these products will surely be able to track calories, miles walked and sleeping habits.

future gadgetsNow we cannot forget about the awesome gadgets we can wear on our face, the smartglass will be making it's way to many more homes. Google glass already has it's second gen ready for 2014 and many competitors are going to be following suit with their first gens like Lumus who offers true augmented reality. 2014 smartglass should be marketed at a lower price and we will have more people running around with computers on our faces, and starting the new futuristic trends that might not be able to live without.

3D printers have been getting cheaper and cheaper, and I cannot wait for one to be more affordable to  me so I can finally print out my Iron Man suit. That may be an impractical idea, but this awesome gadget is advancing for more practical uses such as fashion, entertainment, jewelry, medicine and so on. Stratasys, Autodesk, and 3D systems are some notable companies that are making this technology more practical and not to mention more affordable for us consumers bringing the price down to the hundreds instead of the thousands.

With this technology readily available in the household, you can do a number of repairs, like a broke stove knob, a broken table leg. If you can do the math you can print it, and as it advances many people will have printable templates that will be available online and a quick Google search will be all that it takes. You could even print out your own hard cases for your smartphones, or Iron Man suit, the possibilities will be endless.

3. Flexible Displays

2013 Samsung introduced its new curved display the Galaxy Round, and LG introduced the G flex and the both feature flexible screens. The flexible display trend is surely going to make the creative minds behind these big companies come up with more awesome gadgets. The benefit of this type of technology is that these screens can bend which means the chances of you breaking your screen is vastly minimized. Even though we are only seeing this flexible technology on smartphones, it will surely be making its way around other applications like smartwatches and monitors, the possibilities are truly endless.

There are currently rumors going about that Apple  may include this new technology in their future gadget the iWatch. It would definatly be a sweet idea to have a great portion of the watch wrap around your wrist, and edgeless cellphones, it may sound odd, but a lot of us will probably buy into it. These awesome gadgets keep on advancing, chips and batteries are getting smaller and smaller making anything possible.

Biometrics may just be another trend that gets tired again or in our high tech society it could be implemented into many other applications. Biometrics could be included into a home alarm system, or even a keyless alarm system where your finger is the key. Samsung doesn't want to be left behind in the biometrics game and the are reportedly going to be releasing a iris scanner on one of their smartphones. This would allow the owner access to their phone with a eyeball scan so that only they can unlock it. This stuff sound like something you would see on the SyFy channel, but once one company makes it popular many other companies will try to supersede it with something better and trendier future gadget.

5. 4K TVs
future gadgets

4K TVs have already shown face at a couple trade shows, but the ones available to the consumer at the moment are just too expensive. In 2014 this is when companies like LG, Samsung, Panasonic, Sony and others will be ready to give the consumers the affordable 4K TV with included smart technology. 2041 is the year that this technology becomes more affordable, as this is how TV trends usually go.

Future gadgets

4K technology is not only limited to TVs but we will be seeing some on our mobile gadgets. As one of the top smartphone developers Samsung is already developing 4K and 2K screens which would be amazing on one of their tablets, and i'm sure Samsung will not disappoint. We cannot forget about Apple because their is a rumor that they will be having a 2K screen on the next iPad. Yes, it is 2 less Ks, but they probably want to say they offered it first, but whatever floats their boat.

Final Words
These future gadgets are just a few trends that we believe will be continued and advancing this year, with many others trailing behind it like voice recognition, home automation, robotic, bionics and so much more. On a consumer level we believe these are the ones that will take more notice in our eyes than things that are way out of our league. Now when the date changes to the first don't expect things to immediately change we still have a whole year for these awesome gadgets to advance.
